Dental Implant Treatment in Cambridge

Implants are independent and provide function to the supporting bone. One of the most important features of implants is that they preserve bone.

The implant placement treatment is planned to achieve as natural appearance as possible. The data on implants thus far shows this to be a very predictable and long lasting method of treatment.

As a first step implants are placed in the jawbone. After a 1-6 months healing period, your new crowns will be attached to the implants.

The Treatment Steps

1. The first step is the placement of titanium implants to replace the missing teeth. Implants will remain covered underneath the gum for approximately 1-6 months. During this time, the implant should fuse to the bone.

2. The second step of the procedure involves uncovering the implants and attaching the post to each implant. This completes the foundation on which your teeth will be placed.

3. The final step is the placement of your new teeth by the dentist. With techniques that ensure optimal size, shape, colour and fit, your replacement teeth should blend with your facial characteristics while providing support needed for natural appearance.

Please note that in case your jaw bone is not strong enough, you might need bone grafting before the implant placement.

Bone restoration can happen after losing one tooth or several teeth. However, the rate of bone restoration is highly variable between individuals. After an initial consultation your dentist will be able to tell if you need bone replacement.
